Stories Matter! Workshops

Want to Be a Better Public Speaker?

Want to keep people’s attention?

Want to influence people’s behavior?

Then learn to craft and tell a story, well!

Do you have a story that matters to you, that you would like

to tell to the people who matter to you?

The Storytellers Channel can help you tell it, so well;

that you’ll be asked to tell it, again.

Why Tell Stories?

Stories are the currency of humanity.

Stories are how we relate to one another.

Our stories convey our values.

Stories have the capacity to bypass resistance, to move

others from compliance to commitment.

Stories bond our communities.

So the question shouldn’t be why tell stories, but –

How Can I Tell My Stories Better?

Practice. Develop Your Skills. And a sure fire way to do that is

to participate in The Storytellers Channel’s Stories Matter! Workshop

What’s involved?

Workshop participants meet via Zoom Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 – 3:00 PM for four weeks under the tutelage of The Storytellers Channel’s Founding Storyteller, Gayle Turner.

He provides the four participants per workshop with his PowerPoint: Thoughts on Crafting A Story detailing structure guidance, and the process he follows for developing stories.

Participants are asked to tell their story.

Gayle provides constructive feedback and encourages the other storytellers to do the same.

Feedback is allowed in only three ways.

1. I liked X.

2. I didn’t understand X.

3. I’d like to hear more about X.

The storytellers provide a safe audience for each other.

Also, the process of offering feedback strengthens their understanding of structure aiding in the development of their stories.

Participants are encouraged to tell their story, out loud, once a day, every day between the weekly workshop meetings.

Because telling a story is a lot like recounting a movie you see in your mind’s eye.

Everything seems so clear and then you begin to speak, and transitions become muddy, the situation becomes confused and that which seemed so simple becomes complicated.

The creative process of crafting a story and learning to tell it well is one of iteration and reiteration.

So, you test different ways you can tell your story until you discover the best way.

Then What Happens?

Your performance will be video recorded and archived at StorytellersChannel.com/storytellers.

And if you’re like many of our storytellers you Rinse & Repeat.

One More Reason to Join Us

It’s fun! And you’ll be joining a community of folks who say the camaraderie experienced through the process was even more rewarding than learning to tell their story well.

Being a part of Gayle’s workshop was an experience that made me realize that what I had to say and the story I shared mattered. Having the confidence and strength to share positioned me as a stronger speaker and trainer. – Shanna Kabatznick, FAB Women

In 2014 I hired Gayle Turner to help coordinate a storytelling event for me and my team. This proved to be the most memorable client event that I have ever had in my 31 years in business.

It seems that everyone has some amazing stories to tell, but unfortunately, most of these stories never get told. They are like magnificent marble statues that are locked inside a huge stone. It takes a master to remove what is unnecessary so the all can see what is inside.
Gayle Turner’s process for developing the stories that are within us is surgical. He identifies what is necessary and removes everything else. What you are left with is an amazing story. I believe anyone who works with him earnestly will be amazed at the stories they have within them. – Robert J. Fischer

Participating in the workshop allowed me to have the joy of honing a story with repetition, exploration and creativity. It is a luxury to have the time to work on a single theme over time and to have the feedback of a talented instructor, the support of the other participants, and the feedback of live audiences.
